Give us a boost?
If you believe in the power of circus to move people, or to get people moving.
If you want to see this little Tasmanian performing company that will take its work to the next level.
Then making a (tax deductable) donation could be the best way to put your money where your heart is.
Circus is hard. Its not just blisters and bruises hard, its also expensive insurance and lots of trips to the physio hard.
It’s support people living on the road for weeks or months at a time hard, a different workplace everyday hard, escalating political discourse hard, cost-of-living crisis hard.
But in spite of all the hard, we think it’s just about the most worthy cause out there. Because it’s also wonderful. Not just washboard abs and stunning costumes wonderful, it’s also chosen family wonderful and meaningful IRL experiences wonderful.
It’s synch your heart rate with a room full of strangers wonderful, feel big feelings from the safety of your seat wonderful, gainful employment and professional pathways wonderful, ‘I see you’ wonderful.
Andy Warhol once said ‘Sex and Parties are the two things in life you actually have to be there for’, and esteemed Australian contemporary circus director Yaron Lifschitz of C!RCA suggests adding circus as the third ‘thing’. We agree.
This kind of visceral, immediate, joyous and shared wonderful is the kind of thing that can only happen when we bring people together. When we give them space to train, to create, to trust, to gather and share stories through their bodies and most importantly, to do all of this in a truly safe environment.
In the heart of Launceston, with deep Tasmanian roots, ROOKE are building something hard and wonderful.
Help us make this thing the best it can be.
