Let’s get sweaty.

Dekoor is a bespoke party show, a collaboration between the ROOKE creative team and your community.

Dekoor is a great opportunity to engage with new members of the community who don’t come to the theatre, and a great way to activate unused or underused spaces in town. The original Dekoor was created in partnership with Mona Foma and a functioning gym, but this concept is flexible and truly site-responsive - read on to see how it works!

How we Dekoor Together

Identify a large, suitable venue with a friendly landlord. The venue should have a number of larger spaces that are accessible to each other but seperate enough to feel distinct. The original Dekoor used a gym with a vacant office floor upstairs and created three distinct performance areas, two bar areas and multiple break-out spaces for intimate performance moments.

Get in contact, we’ll do preliminary research on the space and locale and work with you to identify the scope for the project.

We’ll visit the space and gather the information we need as well as make contact with your production and marketing teams to ensure we’re all on the same page.

We’ll go back to Tasmania to write your version of Dekoor. We’ll also work remotely with your marketing, production and council to make sure everything we want to do is possible, legal and ready to be shouted about.

We’ll run a casting process to find the team of circus performers, dancers, DJs and enthusiastic volunteers that will make the show. We aim to work with local artists where possible, but we maintain an international database of close to 200 artists so it’s easy for us to bring phenomenal artists with us if need be.

We’ll run a two-week (approximate, dependant on the scope of the show we’ve written) rehearsal period with a parallel slow bump-in to create the work and start building the hype without overloading the team.

The show goes on!

We work with your front-of-house, ticketing, hospitality and technical teams to deliver the event, as many times as demand will allow!

We work with you to deliver a schmick post-event report. The mayor is re-elected and for years afterwards people stop you in the street to tell you how much fun they had at Dekoor. Funders are impressed with your younger attendee demographic. Your tech crew have been outside the theatre.

The team

Generally, we’ll bring our Artistic Director, Freyja Wild, Executive Producer, Justin Marshman and a Technical Director. However, if you require it we can supply additional staff including front of house, bar supervisors and technicians.

If Dekoor interests (and why wouldn’t it!) please reach out to justin@rooke.org.au to talk further.
